Sunday 26 July 2015

So today has been eventful...
Well first of all we now have Al with us, yay! Once we met her we got the ferry over to Hvar, found our hostel and set out for the beach. And that's where things took a turn... I went for a swim and one second I was up and the next I was head down in the water, splayed over the rocks, clever me. Luckily this lovely German couple were near me when it all happened so they helped me out. I think I must've gone into some kind of shock because everything was very bright and I couldn't hear anything for a bit,  little scawy. Anyway, I'm okay, just a couple (hundred) scratches and bruises. Moral of the story kids is that wet shoes are the way to go, according to the German couple. Safe to say after this little ordeal I wasn't feeling great, but we had a lovely lovely dinner at this restaurant called Luna which made everything better.

Wednesday 22 July 2015

Hello Croatia!

So after a very early start we got to Dubrovnik around lunchtime, and eventually found where we were staying (up like a squillion steps from Pile gate). Once we did find it we went straight into the old town and spent the rest of the afternoon exploring. It is so so beautiful, everything from the narrow winding back streets to the stunning white stone churches, and the port and the sea; the crystal clear Adriatic Sea.

Tuesday 21 July 2015

Today has been packing, packing and more packing. Fingers crossed I've got everything sorted.
Fleur's here tonight too, in preparation for our torturously early start tomorrow.
Wish us luck!

Monday 20 July 2015

This morning I had my interview at the Talbot Rice Gallery which went well. Possibly the grandest looking place I've ever had an interview, it's so beautiful inside. After that I had a bit of a wander round before getting back on the train down south, leaving the miserable weather for, you guessed it, more miserable weather. But I suppose I should savour it, because in a couple of days it'll be sun, sun, sun!

Sunday 19 July 2015

Back in wonderful, rainy Edinburgh. I got the train up today and left the sunshine somewhere near York. I love the train journey up here though, especially the bit from Newcastle up to Edinburgh where you go along the sea.
In our new flat, all very exciting. I've spent the evening moving furniture around, trying to make it all more homey.

Saturday 18 July 2015

This morning mummy and I went over to Whithurst Manor, where Robbie Williams used to live, to look around the garden which was open with the NGS. They have the most gorgeous walled garden there, full of veggies and wonderful smelling flowers, and peaches and pears and cherries covering the walls.
And then this evening mummy, Thea and I went to watch the GSC production of The Taming of the Shrew which was brilliant. It was in the grounds of Guildford Law School and they used the whole space, each place as a different setting in the play. I'm not really one for audience participation but I was picked out of the crowd as their 'pretty girl' reference in the play, which Thea seemed to find hilarious.

Friday 17 July 2015

Today was super super stressful, sorting everything out for the next couple of days. But! I got everything done! So to everyone stressing out over something, don't panic, take it all one step at a time and it'll all work out, trust me. It almost always usually does... usually.
We had a cream tea as a treat (well deserved I think.)

Thursday 16 July 2015

Thursday 16 July 2015

Today was possibly the hottest of the all. Another day of nothing but swimming and reading. But I had to fly home this evening. I wish I could stay, I've had the best time this week with daddy. But on to new things...
Before my flight we had supper in Blagnac, the same place we went to when Moo came to stay in 2008, and when we got to the airport she was the brightest shade of tomato I've ever seen.
So I flew home this evening, through lots of thunderstorms which made for a bit of a bumpy journey, but other than that pretty painless. It was so hot when we got on the plane that the air conditioning was condensing as it came out, making it look like we were getting on board some sort of spaceship.
Here's daddy on his way to get my last croissant of the holiday, sob.

I got a little glimpse of the sunset from the plane.

Wednesday 15 July 2015

Wednesday 15 July 2015

This morning daddy and I went into Marciac for breakfast, and then wandered around the market in the sunshine. I think that today has been the hottest so far, it's an effort to even move. The only possible activities today were reading and swimming... such a hard life.

Yet another stunning sunset, only this time as seen from in the swimming pool.
Life isn't so bad.

Tuesday 14 July 2015

Tuesday 14 July 2015

Today is Bastille Day, which means lots of fireworks, we watched them all over the horizon this evening.
We spent the day in La Bastide with Johnny, where we played real tennis and had lunch in the sunshine. Johnny even gave me a little guitar lesson which was pretty cool, although I'm not sure I'll ever be as good as him.

More stunning scenes this evening. Everything was so vivid!

Monday 13 July 2015

Monday 13 July 2015

It's been another of those days, which suits me and daddy down to the ground. We've been playing this game I got daddy for his birthday quite a lot. It's called Touring England and it's so much fun, probably because I usually win.
This evening we had melon; a whole one because, why not.

Another beautiful sunset, so many colours!

Sunday 12 July 2015

Sunday 12 July 2015

We were in Pau today, Daddy playing tennis and me catching up on what's happening in the outside world. After our traditional lunch at the aptly names Le Berry, we went over to Paul's house and had tea with the family which was lovely, although it highlighted just how bad my French has become.

Soooo many colours in the sky this evening. It was amazing, each time you looked the sky looked different.

Saturday 11 July 2015

Saturday 11 July 2015

Today we went to our neighbour's daughter's wedding; the second french wedding I've been to now, and they are very different to English ones. They do it all backwards, and invite different people to different bits. So we started at the Mairie in Bazarat where they got married... but then we went on to the church in Montegut where they got married again. It was a lovely day though, and Pascale looked beautiful. And the church was right next to the school I went to when we lived out here, so I had a look round there too. So many memories.

I love the way that the sun peeped beneath the clouds this evening, it was such a vivid red.

Friday 10 July 2015

Friday 10 July 2015

Today was super super hot. All that happened today was swimming swimming swimming and cards and reading, which was perfect.
Sadly it got a bit muggy and cloudy this evening so there was no sunset, but it was such a beautiful day I can't really complain.

Thursday 9 July 2015

Thursday 9 July 2015

The weather is definitely getting better, yipee! Still not overly keen to do anything too strenuous, today was spent reading in the hammock and playing cards (which, bizarrely, I didn't win). And the sunset this evening was magical, it was just like someone had painted a rainbow on the horizon.

The sunset this evening was so beautiful, you can't really see it in the picture but it was like there was a rainbow wrapping right round the horizon.

Wednesday 8 July 2015

Wednesday 8 July 2015

Safe to say we were pretty knackered today. Thankfully it hasn't been too hot either so it's been a nice cool, quiet day. We did manage some shopping, although we definitely missed a few things.

I've decided to take a picture of all the sunsets we see out here too, because they're all just so beautiful.

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Mmm, lovely early start this morning. We got the catamaran from Portsmouth over to Cherbourg, bit of a choppy crossing. Daddy and I entertained ourselves with a rather pathetic attempt at I spy. And then we drove, and drove and drove. We finally got home at about midnight.

Monday 6 July 2015

Monday 6 July 2015

I've spent all day procrastinating, I hate packing. And unpacking for that matter, wouldn't it be great if you could just click your fingers and everything was sorted. So instead of packing we played croquet.

Sunday 5 July 2015

Sunday 5 July 2015

Today Thea and I helped out at Henry's birthday party, which was an experience. 16 eight year old boys running around the place was a bit of a handful, but everyone had a great time, I think tug of war at the end was everyone's favourite.

Saturday 4 July 2015

Saturday 4 July 2015

Lovely relaxed day today chez Berry. I've been picking the lavender which I'm going to dry and put into some little bags that I've made. I love the smell of lavender; I can't imagine anyone who doesn't really.

Friday 3 July 2015

Friday 3 July 2015

I think it's safe to say that today the world witnessed my finest hour (in croquet). There I was, moving in for the win, but Daddy had other intentions, and kept sending me out into the boarders, when, on my last chance to still be crowned winner, I hit the post from what felt like miles away (although it was probably a little closer than that). All in all, what we can all take away from this is that I am a winner, who is also really good at croquet.

Thursday 2 July 2015

Thursday 2 July 2015

This afternoon I went over to babysit Henry and Cordelia again, my two favourite cousins under the age of 10. We went swimming  and played with Alfie, who is getting bigger and bigger every time I see him.

Wednesday 1 July 2015

Wednesday 1 July 2015

Well if I thought yesterday was hot, then today was, well, hotter. And today of all days I was working in London, not really where you want to be. I mean ideally I'd be by the side of a pool in the Caribbean but what can you do. So today I was waitressing for an event at an art gallery in Peckham. Aside from it possibly being the sweatiest experience of my life, it was actually really good, I met some lovely people and it was great to be a part of the event (even if I hadn't been invited).
Unfortunately today my mind was on other things, and I only thought about my picture at the train station on the way home, by which time I was about to keel over so apologies for the photo, but then again, some may say it's artistic...
