Saturday 28 February 2015

Last day of R U A Raspberry Yoghurt month.
I'm not sure how we've managed to do so little today. Breakfast at 12 for a solid 2 and half hours, then watched About Time (fab film) to fill in the time before returning to the wonders of the jmcc for another two hours. Time well spent I'd say...

Friday 27 February 2015

I think I spent most of yesterday in bed, but still managed to find the energy to go out again obviously. And I had a lovely lovely time with these two beautiful ladies (and the rest of them) again.
AND I got to speak to Odessa! If you're reading this I think you should come up and see me.

Thursday 26 February 2015

Yesterday was fun. Well, last night was fun, the rest of the day was just me in the library with a brief interval of me in the Scottish National Gal. But after all that I had tea with Bea, Phoebe and Harry before going back to Pollock for Clorinda's Take Me Out which was entertaining. Had a great night out though thanks to this munchkin, who apparently found herself in the shrubbery at some point.

Wednesday 25 February 2015

This evening Al and I watched the Brits with a cup of mint tea in a Maccabees mug. It was pretty fab.
I think it's safe to say Al was err.. less than impressed with the shortlist for Best British Music Video.
The highlight for me was definitely Ed Sheeran's performance but they were all great, and especially Madonna; love you, you're a trooper.

Tuesday 24 February 2015

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLY! I hope you've had a lush day!
My day has been slightly uneventful, although I had lovely chats with these two lovely ladies and Al introduced me to this fab book/series 'The Pillars of the Earth'. 'Twas gripping.

Monday 23 February 2015

Today was such a fab day, I feel somehow like I accomplished a lot.
I went down to New College to take out a book from the library there. I'd never been inside before and it's beautiful. The court yard alone was breathtaking but then you step into the library with its stained glass windows and wow. But anyway the book I wanted was downstairs in this huuuuge room filled with rows and rows of books. And it was so dark and so quiet, it's the kind of place someone could murder you and I swear no one would find you for weeks. So safe to say it was a little scawy.
As I was walking back afterwards I thought I'd have a look inside St Giles kirk as I mean to every time I'm on the Royal Mile but never seen to. And it is stunning inside. I mean, anyone who knows me knows that I love churches so I may be a little biased, but it is so beautiful. I'd love to go to a service there, and see it being used instead of just as something pretty to look at.

Sunday 22 February 2015

A wet and windy day. Some may call it a bad day, I call it perfect conditions for staying inside and writing an essay for tomorrow morning. And mission accomplished with time left over for my wonderful blog!

Saturday 21 February 2015

Back to the burgh.
Missing you all at home already.
On the bright side though I had a lovely time with Laura and Charlie when I got back. You know, just your average night as a student, listening to Tchaikovsky and drinking tea.

Friday 20 February 2015

Bit of a grey day today, in every sense. There's nothing that colourful about admin and organisation, apart from that fab feeling when everything is sorted. Sadly though everything seems to be half finished at the moment, which is even worse than not even started in my opinion. Still, I guess it's progress.
Here's a photo of Thea in an elephant onesie to brighten everyone's grey days.

Thursday 19 February 2015

So this one isn't strictly a photo I've taken, but I'm in it so close enough. I think it does pretty well at summing up today's antics; tea time at the Irwin's. The highlight definitely being Henry's delicious cake, top marks.

Wednesday 18 February 2015

Wednesday 18 February 2015

So unfortunately I didn't get as much work done as I'd initially planned (I accomplished nothing). On the bright side though I've taken full advantage of life at home, the pinnacle of which for me is my beautiful bed and a pair of cashmere socks; day made.

Tuesday 17 February 2015

Happy Pancake Day!
I think I made a pretty good crack at it this year; here is evidence of my pancake-shaped success.
Today has been such a lovely day! It's starting to feel more and more like spring yay. To celebrate we played tennis, and I definitely won (well I would have if we'd played a game), although it definitely highlighted my ehemm... lack of fitness, so I think the gym will be seeing a lot more of me when I get back to the burgh.

Monday 16 February 2015

For her birthday, Thea was given tickets to the Harry Potter Studios in Leavesdon so it gave Thea, Daddy, Catherine, Emma and I an excuse for a little family excursion. And it was such a great day! It was slightly surreal seeing some of the sets and props (Thea is still convinced that they weren't real). Some people might say that it ruins the magic, but I just found it fascinating, getting a glimpse of the astonishing amount of work, care and love that went into these productions. Seeing the model of Hogwarts at the end was breathtaking; I got so caught up in the detail. It's just so clever! Another part which I really enjoyed was reading and hearing about what the different departments worked on and how they worked together. Did you know that all the oil paintings in the films were painted by hand?!
I found myself asking, 'if I worked here, what would I want to be?' And I think the answer would definitely be Set Decorator. Being able to decide on the atmosphere, the mood, the style, the tastes of a space; to be able to affect the audiences perceptions of a place would be so much fun! It's something I'll now definitely be looking in to.

Sunday 15 February 2015

Today we had such a lovely family lunch! And the star of the show was without a doubt Miss Elliana Brett, my new second cousin. She's beautiful! It was so lovely to see everyone all together, it's been such a long time since we last managed it. It was so bizarre to think that we had four generations there today; a wonderful, if slightly scary thought.
All in all a wonderful day, and I hope I get to see you all again soon! x

Saturday 14 February 2015

Well hello there Valentine's Day.
I won't lie this hasn't been the best day of my life, but you know, the downs make the ups seem even better. Last year I was with someone, this year I'm not. Not that it only matters because it's Valentine's Day obviously but it just makes you think when you have all this sickeningly soppy nonsense shoved down your throat every time you step anywhere near your computer, or even just venture outside.
Anyway it just makes me even more thankful for my gal friends, the real love's of my life ;)
This card is an Ameel original, and possibly the best card I've ever been given. Love you Mil (I'd totally shave my legs for you too). x

Friday 13 February 2015

Ladies who lunch.
Today Milly, Catch, Laura, Ali, Sophie, Sophie, Georgie and I went and had a lovely girls lunch at the Kilimanjaro Cafe. It was so so lovely, and a great chance to get together before we all go off for the week (such a long time, how will we cope!?)
But that means hooooome. I'm flying home this evening, and I cannot wait!

Thursday 12 February 2015

Another very cultured day. First of all I went to the National Museum of Scotland, had a little wander. Then I went to the Scottish National Gallery where me and Tash did our History of Art presentation which was aaaall fine. And then this evening Laura, Ali and I went to watch a production of The Importance of being Earnest which was fab! It's possibly my favourite play, they had us in fits the whole was through. My friend Flora was in it too and she was brilliant! The best Lady Bracknell I've ever seen.

Wednesday 11 February 2015

Wednesday 11 February 2015

Wow I'm antisocial. I've only left my room to eat today, other than that I've just had my head in the books. But it's okay, the end of the week of torturous work is almost over and then I can go hoooome. On the bright side though I could now tell you anything you wanted to know about Hans Holbein's Allegory of the Old and New Law... in theory...

Tuesday 10 February 2015

This is how they do it in Baird, Proseco in the stairwell; hobo chic.
We went to Bongo's tonight for Dee's birthday and it was so much fun! It was so nice to go out with some different people as well, and they are all so lovely.
Love ya Baird.

Monday 9 February 2015

Monday 9 February 2015

Essay in. On to the next thing. The Library has been my home today, but I won't complain, sitting in the sunshine and reading a book isn't too bad.
I walked down to Dundas Street this afternoon to pick up the print I bought on Friday, I can't wait to frame it. But the walk there and back was gorgeous; walking through the centre of Edinburgh as the sun is setting is possibly one of the most beautiful experiences ever, the colours were fantastic. I took this picture from next to the Scottish National Gallery, looking towards the castle just as the sun was setting.

Sunday 8 February 2015

This is Milly, the queen of the JMCC hot chocolate.

Saturday 7 February 2015

Saturday 7 February 2015

Today's view.
I have exhausted every possible form of procrastination today, this essay is going nowhere. But on the bright side the sky looks pretty.

Friday 6 February 2015

Today was another fab day! Although I didn't get my essay done which was the one thing I'd planned to do... oh well. Instead I did lots of fab things. I saw Charlie which was so lovely, we ended up chatting for hours about anything and everything.
And then this evening! Tonight was the opening of Leonora's exhibition, Creativity Takes Courage in aid of the charity Maggie's. It was fantastic! There were so many people, fab canapés and the art was beautiful. It was so nice to see so many people from school as well, although that meant I ended up being put to work as a waitress very swiftly. But I was very happy to help out at what was such a wonderful night. Well done Lelor! I even ended up buying a piece. You can't see it very well in the picture but it''s the print in the middle on the far left. The first piece in my ever expanding collection!
And after all this I went back for proseco and cheese with the gals.
A Fab day.

Thursday 5 February 2015

Thursday 5 February 2015

This photo isn't actually from today, it's from last year and one of the best days of my life. Such happy memories with this one. Thought I'd post this because the highlight of my day today was without a shadow of a doubt talking to you. I guess it's a good thing that we don't speak all the time otherwise there'd be nothing else in my blog ;) Positive thinking...
Anyway, this was just a thank you for being the best friend I've ever had and for always being there for me, no matter what. x

Wednesday 4 February 2015

Wednesday 4 February 2015

Help me, I'm sick.

Tuesday 3 February 2015

Spent the evening with this one. We watched Before I Go To Sleep and Gone Girl while she did her sewing, I think my presence has a great influence and makes all her stitching amazing. Probably not the two best films to watch before bed though, and a bit of a contrast to Easy A and LOL from last time.

Tuesday 3 February 2015

Monday 2 February 2015

It's all caught up with me, I finally have the cold. It's been coming for me for a while now. Illness is no fun, although I'm far too self indulgent and I definitely make the most of being bed bound.
I did make it out of bed this evening though, and went to spoons with Al, Jessie, Eliza, Ed, Ed and Marcus which was such fun. We had think drink called Blue Lagoon which was the most unrealistic shade of blue I have ever seen... but it was delicious.

This picture is for Max; we are all very disappointed in your lack of visit this week.

Sunday 1 February 2015

Sunday 1 February 2015

Happy February! Another fab day; a bit of lacrosse by Arthur's Seat, church and a lovely supper afterwards with Laura, Sophie and Katie. We went to this great Mexican restaurant on Hanover street called Chachalaca and I would definitely recommend it, the food was amazing.
