Saturday 31 October 2015

It's basically November and it's still so warm!
Lots more wandering today. This morning Daddy, Thea and I went around the Musee d'Aquitaine which was interesting, I liked the big Roman mosaic they had.
This arvo we walked over to les Jardins Public which were stunning! Everything was covered in fantastic shades of reds, oranges and yellows; in some cases, like the ivy on the walls,
literally dripping with them.
And this evening I had possibly the best meal I've ever had ever. We went to Mama Shelter, the quirky hotel and everything from the decor to the food was fantastic!

Thursday 29 October 2015

Thursday 29 October 2015

SO much travelling today, and it's been great; we've seen so much!
First stop was Bilbao, and we went to the Guggenheim which was fantastic, the building is stunning! They had some great exhibitions on, my favourites were the Alex Katz 'This is Now', and the Richard Serra 'The Matter of Time' ones.
Then we drove up to Biarritz, picked up Mummy and Thea, then had a coffee in Bayonne, before finally reaching Bordeaux in time for supper.

Also really appreciating the T shirt weather.

Wednesday 28 October 2015

I'm in Spain! This afternoon I escaped the rain and flew out to Santander.
This evening Daddy and I went out for tapas which was deLIcious, I'm still dreaming about the cheese plate. We did struggle a bit with the Spanish though, especially Daddy.

Tuesday 27 October 2015

I've been attempting this essay all day, but I keep getting so distracted because this topic is just so vast and so interesting. It's about our sense of self, and how we think others perceive us, and there are literally a million different arguments which all kind of make sense. So fascinating but SO confusing. Ah, the joys of Sociology.

Monday 26 October 2015

Monday 26 October 2015

Look who I ran into today on my walk into uni! Such a lovely surprise to see this munchkin.
Today's been a great day, and productive too. Essay in, tea with a friend and this evening we went to an eye opening talk about careers in the arts in Playfair Library in Old College (which is beautiful!).

Sunday 25 October 2015

Sunday 25 October 2015

Sunday funday.
This little guy was the little bit of gloriousness in an otherwise essay filled day.

Saturday 24 October 2015

Saturday 24 October 2015

Brunch time with the gang!
It's been so so wonderful to see them all, AND to see Dance! I can't believe it's been so long, but it's so good to have you back.

Friday 23 October 2015

Friday 23 October 2015

Happy birthday Benedict! I hope you had a marvellous day, and as wonderful evening as I did!
Mil, Al, Marcus and I got the train all the way down from Edinburgh to celebrate Ben's 21st with him in Oxford. And we had such a fantastic time! It was so lovely to see the gang again, I wish I saw them more often. We had a delicious dinner at the Cherwell Boathouse, followed by drinks at Freud.

Thursday 22 October 2015

Thursday 22 October 2015

Another scrumptious lunch with Mil at Lovecrumbs this afternoon. Today we went for a white chocolate and peanut butter tart, and a chocolate, hazelnut and cinnamon cake, and we sat in the window and soaked up the glorious Scottish rays (even though it was blowing an absolute gale outside).

Wednesday 21 October 2015

Wednesday 21 October 2015

This evening Daisy, Will and I went to the Cumberland for a drink which was so lovely and relaxed. A great way to end a busy day.

Tuesday 20 October 2015

Tuesday 20 October 2015

An edgy photo for my edgy friend Felix. Today Felix and I had the best lunch together at this fantastic little cafe just off the Royal Mile. I think it's called City cafe and I'd definitely recommend it!

Monday 19 October 2015

Sunday 18 October 2015

Sunday 18 October 2015

Don't you love those super productive days where you just get everything done? Well, today has kind of been like that (slightly).

Saturday 17 October 2015

Saturday 17 October 2015

Mummy's gone now, sob. It's been so lovely having her up here.
This evening I went over to Al's for supper, and we watched Don't Tell The Bride with peppermint tea. I'm still unsure whether it's the best or the worst program ever...

Friday 16 October 2015

Friday 16 October 2015

Another glorious (of slightly chilly) day in Edinburgh.
After a scrummy lunch with Mama at Lucano's we went for a wander around Grassmarket before going our separate ways for tea. I met Clorinda for hot chocolate and a catch up and had a lovely lovely afternoon.

Thursday 15 October 2015

Thursday 15 October 2015

Today really began with Lovecrumbs with Mil again for lunch. I think we might make this a regular thing, because cake for lunch is the best idea ever.
I then met Mummy and Kim at the National Gallery and we had a fantastic afternoon of fantastic art. First we went around the Arthur Melville exhibition which was breath-taking. My favourites were his Oriental water colours, and I completely fell in love with 'King Cophetua and the Beggar Maid'; the melee of textures combined with the spectacularly vivid colours and ephemeral presence of the figures was mesmerising.
I also loved one of the quotes that they had above some of the works, you can just about see it in the picture but, it's a quote from Melville and it says

"Accidents are the makings of a picture."

Wednesday 14 October 2015

Wednesday 14 October 2015

This evening I went for drinks with mummy and her girlfriends at the Cafe Royal which was lovely, I haven't seen them in a long time and it was great to hear about what their daughters (my friends from prep school) are up to now.

Tuesday 13 October 2015

Tuesday 13 October 2015

Mummy's here! After an afternoon of gallery hopping with Daisy and Felix I picked her up from the station. This evening we went for dinner at the Dome on George Street and it was fantastic, I'd definitely recommend it. The interior is stunning and the food was delicious; such a lovely evening.

Monday 12 October 2015

Monday 12 October 2015

The photo really doesn't do it justice but the sunset this evening was exquisite.

Sunday 11 October 2015

Sunday 11 October 2015

'Catch'ing up with my fave this afternoon at my fave spot in the city, the National Gallery cafe.

Saturday 10 October 2015

Friday 9 October 2015

Friday 9 October 2015

Daisy and I stopped off in St Giles Cathedral on our way back from lecture this afternoon. It is honestly one of my favourite places in the whole of Edinburgh; it's so beautiful and calm and it makes me happy!

Thursday 8 October 2015

Thursday 8 October 2015

Picturesque scenes in Grass market earlier.
Mil and I went to Lovecrumbs for lunch (yes, cake is an acceptable meal) and it was delicious. We shared a slice of chocolate and hazelnut cake and a cashew and salted caramel tart and it was fantastic.

Wednesday 7 October 2015

Wednesday 7 October 2015

Happy Birthday Julian!
It's been a rainy day here, but still incredibly beautiful, I love the reflections you get in the pavements. Although it does make walking into uni a little trecherous, with the constant danger of being stabbed in the eye by someone's umbrella.

Tuesday 6 October 2015

Tuesday 6 October 2015

I had a fantastic afternoon wandering around the National Gallery today, I spent most of my time in the Impressionists room upstairs. I love the painting 'Olive Trees' (1889) by Van Gogh; the colours are mesmerising and so beautifully applied, but the swirling lines and intense, juxtaposing colours do evoke a sort of sense of anxiety in the viewer, so maybe don't look at it too long.

Monday 5 October 2015

Monday 5 October 2015

Sayin' hi to Henry Dundas on my walk to uni; it must be pretty chilly up there.

Sunday 4 October 2015

Sunday 4 October 2015

Phoebe and I spent the entire day on Princes street today; a day well spent I'd say. We oohed and aahed over the jewellery section in John Lewis for a while; everything is so sparkly!

Saturday 3 October 2015

Saturday 3 October 2015

"It's October 3rd."
This evening we had our long awaited Mean Girls flat warming, and it was pretty grool. I was so impressed with everyone's outfits; here's our flat in all our plastic glory.

Friday 2 October 2015

Friday 2 October 2015

I had a glorious afternoon with Milly on Princes street, chatting and buying lovely things.
And this evening we went over to Charlie's flat party which was so much fun! I hope everyone had as good a time as I did.

Thursday 1 October 2015

Thursday 1 October 2015

Pinch, punch, first of the month!
And the stunning weather continues, I can't get over it, it's been so beautiful.
My walk to uni is better than yours.
